One step at a time
We have made a few milestones today. Adela is supposed to have her catheter and her arterial line removed later today. She will remain on the ventilator for now. They had tried to wean her off yesterday morning but her lungs were still to wet from all her fluid retention. They upped it back up and this morning’s x-ray looks like they are a little stronger so they are going to try again to wean her slowly over night. They also need time to wean her off her current pain med and onto another that doesn’t require breathing assistance. We are looking at a possible 10 am extabation. Adela also still is having a temperature that needs to be resolved. We are also waiting to hear more about her biopsy from the GI doctors. I’m not sure when we will be out of the PICU but I’m sure we’ll be upstairs on the ward for awhile afterward.
Hey Ally and Steven,
I can’t begin to tell you how much I’ve been thinking about the 3 of you since your visit a few weeks ago. We’ve been so worried about Adela and both of you as well. I’m happy to read that things appear to be improving or at least moving in the right direction. I’m so glad you’ve started this blog so we can stay informed about how she is. You both are so amazing to be handling this so well. I’m sure you think that you aren’t, but you are because you are getting up each morning and doing what you have to do. We will keep praying for all of you.
Love,
Amanda
