A little perky
They are preparing to extubate Adela later today (possibly 12 or 1) so they are weaning her down on her fentanyl and not giving her morning dose of anti-anxiety drug. They like them perky for extubation…they might get more than they bargained for! The PICU pharmacist also said the anti-fungal she is on could be causing the elevated GGT enzyme they have been watching over the weekend. They are looking into switching or discontinuing. She is continuing to have a fever and they are going to run another blood culture just to rule infection out. She is on three broad antibiotics so they are not sure. She will be off her feeding tube until tomorrow morning to make sure her lungs are doing ok and she doesn’t aspirate or something. It sounds like that we will stay for awhile yet in the PICU since Adela likes to throw them curveballs – or maybe it’s because she’s so cute. I’ll post again later with more about the extubation.
Hi All,
I am so sorry it has taken me this long to write to you…I am quilty as charged….I do look at this site daily. I am so gratefull that you gave Dr. Ferrari this link.
All 3 of your are in my thoughts and prayers, I think of Adela often.
It’s nice to read Adela’s accomplishments…there golden. I’ve been there.so I can aprreciate all the accomplishments that she makes.
If you ever need a shoulder, you can have mine.

Well, well, well…sounds like our girl is gearing up to give these people a run for their money. That’s what i like to hear! They can take her off the vent – but they should really consider keeping the super restraints on her – they don’t know who they are dealing with!!! She’s like a little ball of radioactive material – looks cute and harmless enough…but packs a major punch!!
Looking forward to coming by later this week to check in.
Love to Ladybug –
