One step forward…
three steps back.
Well, they had begun to wean Adela of her ventilator last night, however she did not respond well. Throughout the night her breathing stats fell (basically her oxygen level) to the point were they were having trouble stabilizing her even with the machine fully back on. At about 6:30 this morning they put her on a bag and took her to have a cat scan. It confirmed what they were already suspecting. Her liver and gall bladder are inflamed but consistent with the stress they have undergone. Her lung tissue was retaining fluid and her lungs also had some fluid in them. When they had her on the bag ventilation her stats improved dramatically and when they got her back to the room they got her stabilized on the ventilator. She is knock out good right now so that her lungs will rest and “ride” the ventilator, while they try to get the fluid out. Right now the treatment is switching her to a different antibiotic and give her a bit more diuretic and just giving her body time to pass it. Tomorrow she will have another ultrasound to check the fluid. Good news is that her liver seems to be holding it’s own and her fluid retention in her limbs and face is greatly reduced.
Just want you to know that I have you all in my thoughts and prayers, especially Adela.
Love,
Jeanne
I am a friend and colleague of Cindy’s from Outreach and have been following this story through emails from her since this whole ordeal began and just want you guys to know how many people are thinking of you constantly. I just found your blog this afternoon and will visit often to stay informed.
Ali, Steven and Adela–
I love you deeply and want you to know that you have been in my thoughts and prayers and those of so many people, some you’ll never meet. All I have told her story to have been touched by Adela’s life force and want to add a measure of their own energy to it. If our love for each other can transcend time and space, and I know it can, know that you have so many caring so much for you.
Love to your parents and Steven’s. We don’t phone you because we talk to Lydia and GreatGram daily, but you are always with us–even sometimes at 3:00 a.m. Pacific time. Aunt Laura
Jesus fed the thousands one at a time until all were filled and there was extra. He has all Adela needs one step at a time.
You are all in our prayers. This blog is wonderful. I talk to Granny every day but hearing from you is the best info. Now I know exactly what to pray about.
Be strong in the Lord. We love you all.
Blessings, Aunt Shirley
We are thinking of you often. I hope Adela has a good day today.
