Bee Positive

Not a lot of news for today.  Just keep on keeping on.  She is tolerating her feeds well and digesting so far.  They seemed to be impressed by her lung recovery and they have continued to wean her down on the ventilator.  Just thought I would share a silly joke.  When we were first admitted

Evening Edition

I was sitting here keeping Adela company and started tinkering with the look of the site.  I think she would really like the design I found, hope you all do too.  On an update note:  They have begun her g-tube feeding again.  She has been getting some for the past 7 hours and they just

Small Improvements

Adela’s x-ray this morning showed some improvement in her lungs (yeah!).  However between the pressure setting on the ventilator and the fact the lungs were weaken during the incident the other morning she is/was leaking air into her chest cavity.  They are weaning down the pressure and said she will reabsorb the air.  However the

Just hanging out

Well today we are just resting.  They have stepped back on her diuretics because her blood stream was drying out, but she has actually swelled some in the face.  They are going to be trying to balance her all day.  Her lung x-ray this morning show they had not gotten worse, which the doctors apparently

Well, they had begun to wean Adela of her ventilator last night, however she did not respond well.  Throughout the night her breathing stats fell (basically her oxygen level) to the point were they were having trouble stabilizing her even with the machine fully back on.  At about 6:30 this morning they

Nevermind

I take it all back.  Adela is not having her arterial line out today because she is going to possibly need a bit more blood products.  They have also decided to wait on her catheter so they can get an accurate measurement of her fluid output today.  They are working on weaning her off the

One step at a time

We have made a few milestones today.  Adela is supposed to have her catheter and her arterial line removed later today.  She will remain on the ventilator for now.  They had tried to wean her off yesterday morning but her lungs were still to wet from all her fluid retention.  They upped it back up

Late Night Post

Hanging out with Adela in her room.  They have upped her medication and she is a lot more out of it, but at least she isn’t fighting the machine like last night.  It seems to be a real balancing act.  She has been running a temp for a day and half without an obvious cause.

Thank you from the PICU

Steven and I just wanted to send out a big thank you to all our friends and family that have been thinking of Adela.  She is looking better today.  She has been doing really well clearing the fluid out of her system over the last 24 hours.  The nurses have been able to tell a
